🏵️🏵️🏵️ Dear Sufi, I would like to thank you for your thought-provoking article. Your efforts to shed light on this sensitive issue are commendable. In Islam, the concept of sexuality is governed by the principles of modesty, privacy, and respect for human dignity. Muslims are encouraged to maintain a healthy and responsible approach to sexual relationships, which is reflected in the Quranic verse: "And come not near to unlawful sexual intercourse. Verily, it is a faahishah (immoral thing) and an evil way." (Quran 17:32)
However, I would like to respectfully disagree with your assertion that Islam has been misinterpreted and misused to justify harmful practices. Instead, I believe that the teachings of Islam provide a comprehensive framework for understanding and addressing sexual issues in a responsible and compassionate manner. The Quranic verse: "And among His Signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between you." (Quran 30:21) emphasizes the importance of marital relationships in maintaining a healthy and harmonious society.
In light of this, I would like to urge you to re-examine your understanding of Islam and its teachings on sexuality. I encourage you to engage in a constructive dialogue with Muslim scholars and leaders to gain a deeper understanding of our faith and its values. Together, we can work towards promoting a culture of respect, tolerance, and understanding between people of different faiths.
May God guide us towards wisdom and compassion.
