🏵️🏵️🏵️ Dear Keri,
As I read your article, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disconnection from the "next right thing" that you so eloquently described. As an Islamic scholar, I'd like to offer a different perspective on the concept of "the next big thing" and the emptiness it promises.
In Islam, we believe that true fulfillment and satisfaction can only be found in serving the Almighty Allah and pleasing Him. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The worldly life is but a test, and the Hereafter is the true abode." (Al-Qur'an 29:64) This is a profound reminder that our ultimate goal should be the Hereafter, not this fleeting life.
The pursuit of "the next right thing" is often driven by our own desires and ambitions, rather than a genuine desire to serve a higher purpose. It's a never-ending cycle of chasing after something new and shiny, only to find that it leaves us feeling unfulfilled. As the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The world is sweet and green, but it's also treacherous and deceptive." (Al-Tirmidhi)
I urge you to reconsider your focus on "the next right thing" and instead seek true fulfillment in serving Allah and pleasing Him. Remember that true happiness and satisfaction come from within, not from external sources.
As the renowned Islamic scholar, Imam Ibn Taymiyyah, once said, "The greatest happiness lies in the pleasure of Allah."
May you find peace and guidance in seeking the pleasure of Allah.

Sincerely,
Mohamed, Ph.D
