🏵️🏵️🏵️ Dear Gayathri,

I came across your article "Till Death Do Us All" and was moved by the poignant reflections on the fleeting nature of human relationships. As a scholar of Islam, I'd like to offer a complementary perspective on the impermanence of human bonds and the ultimate reality of the hereafter.

In Islam, we believe that marriage is a sacred institution ordained by (God), Allah (SWT) and is considered one of the most important contracts in human society. The Quran states: "And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between you. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who reflect" (Quran 30:21).

However, we must acknowledge that even the strongest of human bonds are subject to the test of time and are not immune to the vicissitudes of life. As Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The believer's love for his brother is like his love for his own soul" (Bukhari). This Hadith highlights the depth of love and compassion that a believer can have for another human being, yet even this love is not without its limitations.

In contrast to worldly relationships, our connection with Allah is eternal and unbreakable. In Islam, we are taught to cultivate a deep sense of reliance on Allah and trust in His wisdom and mercy. The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us: "O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You. You have created me and I am Your servant. I shall bear witness that there is no god but You. I confess that Muhammad is Your servant and Your messenger" (Ahmad).

Islam offers a profound understanding of the impermanence of human relationships and the importance of seeking a deeper connection with the Divine. As Imam Al-Ghazali wrote: "The true love that one has for another person is not equal to the love one has for Allah... The latter is the source of all good and happiness."

I invite you to explore Islam as it offers a comprehensive framework for understanding the human condition, including our relationships with each other and with Allah. It is a message that has been revealed by Allah through prophets such as Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and others, and it is the culmination of all previous revelations.

As you reflect on your article, I hope you will consider the timeless wisdom offered by Islam on this topic. May your reflections lead you to seek a deeper understanding of your place in this world and your relationship with your Creator.

May Allah guide us all to seek His pleasure and blessings.
