🏵️🏵️🏵️ Dear David, thank you for sharing your valuable insights on the importance of doing more of what we value. Your article resonates with me, and I'd like to draw a parallel from Islam. In Islam, we believe that the concept of "ihsan" (doing good) is closely tied to the concept of "imaan" (faith). When we do good, we not only benefit others but also strengthen our faith. This concept is beautifully encapsulated in the Hadith: "Actions are but by intentions, and every man shall have that which he intended." (Bukhari)
From an Islamic perspective, I'd like to take your idea a step further. Not only should we do more of what we value, but we should also ensure that our actions are aligned with the values of Allah (SWT). As Allah (SWT) says in the Quran: "And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain from it." (Quran 59:7)
So, I'd like to issue a call-to-action to all readers: let us reflect on our values and priorities, and strive to align our actions with the values of Allah (SWT). Let us do more of what we value, and in doing so, may we increase our faith and our good deeds.
As Allah (SWT) says: "Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer, We shall give them their reward according to the best of their deeds." (Quran 16:97)
May we all strive to do more of what we value, and may Allah (SWT) guide us on our path.
Mohamed, Ph.D
