Dear Lee,

I came across your article "Do You Want Me to Listen?" and was reminded of the importance of listening in our relationships, as emphasized in Islam. In fact, the Quran teaches us that "O you who believe! Listen to Allah and listen to the Prophet and those in authority among you." (4:59) This verse highlights the significance of listening to the divine guidance and to those who are entrusted with responsibility.

From an Islamic perspective, listening is not only important in our personal relationships but also in our spiritual journey. As Muslims, we are encouraged to listen to the Quran, which is a book of guidance sent by God to humanity. The Quran guides us on how to live a righteous life, how to interact with others, and how to seek forgiveness and mercy from God.

In Islamic sociology, listening is considered an essential component of building strong communities. When we listen to one another, we create a sense of belonging and foster empathy, which are essential for social cohesion. As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The strong among you will not succeed except by making the weak among you strong."

Islamic psychology emphasizes the importance of self-reflection and introspection. By listening to our inner voice and seeking guidance from Allah, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world. As the Quran says, "O my people! Respond to your Lord's Lordly Calling!" (20:44)

In Islam, mindfulness is not just about being present in the moment but also about being aware of our thoughts, words, and actions. By cultivating mindfulness, we can develop a deeper sense of gratitude and appreciation for the blessings we receive from God.

I invite you to explore Islam as it is the culmination of all previous revelations, including the revelations given to prophets such as Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and others. It is a message that speaks directly to humanity's deepest needs and aspirations.

As you ponder the questions you raised in your article, I ask you: Have you ever stopped and asked yourself what if, on the Day of Judgment, you realized that you were too lost by life's distractions, personal bias against Islam and Muslims and didn't take the time to read or embrace Islam as the final message from God?

I invite you to read an online copy of the Quran

https://quran.ksu.edu.sa/index.php?l=en#aya=1_1&m=hafs&qaree=husary&trans=en_sh

and discover for yourself the purpose of life, God's nature, and a different perspective than what we may have raised upon.

May Allah guide us all on our journey towards righteousness.
