I agree with Liira that it is important to be respectful of your clients, to be honest with them, and to let them take credit for their own successes.

However, I think it is also important to be challenging and to push clients to reach their full potential. I don't think that means pushing them beyond their limits, but it does mean setting high expectations and helping them to achieve those expectations.
