The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been ongoing for decades, resulting in numerous violent clashes and a great deal of suffering for the Palestinians. 🏵️🏵️
A ceasefire agreement would be a significant step towards ending the cycle of violence and providing much-needed relief to the civilian population.

According to data from the United Nations, the past escalation of violence in May 2021 resulted in over 250 Palestinian deaths, including at least 66 children, and over 1,900 injuries.
Additionally, over 70,000 Palestinians have been displaced since the start of the conflict, with many forced to flee their homes and take shelter in schools and other temporary facilities.

It has been reported recently that more than 7,000 civilians, including 3,600 babies and 2,300 women, have been killed in the Gaza strip, with almost 20,000 civilians injured during the ongoing conflict. 🛑🛑

The loss of innocent lives, including women and children, is tragic and unacceptable.
The humanitarian crisis in the region is worsening with each passing day, as more and more people are killed, injured, and displaced from their homes.
The long-term social, economic, and psychological effects of the conflict on the people of Gaza cannot be overstated.

Aceasefire would allow for the safe return of Palestinian refugees who have been displaced from their homes due to the ongoing conflict.
It would also provide an opportunity for humanitarian aid to be delivered to those in need, including the many Palestinians who are living in poverty due to the economic impact of the Israeli conflict.

However, Palestinian communities are wary of ceasefire agreements that do not fully address the underlying causes of the conflict.
The continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, settlement expansion, and the blockade of Gaza have all played a significant role in the ongoing tensions between the two groups.

Earlier incidents such as Israeli authorities' use of excessive force on Palestinian protesters in Sheikh Jarrah in East Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa mosque compound raids, and the killing of Palestinian journalist Yousif Abu Hussein further fuel the Palestinian perspective regarding the need for a ceasefire.

Palestinians fear that a ceasefire agreement may entrench existing power structures and legitimize the Israeli occupation of their land, making them vulnerable to further violence and repression.
In order to be effective, any ceasefire agreement must be accompanied by a genuine effort to address the underlying issues at the heart of the conflict, through a process that includes the participation and input of all Palestinian stakeholders.
