Thanks Ossiana, here are some thoughts on the topic 🏵️👇

The trend of women developing strong affections for fictional male characters has been increasing in recent years. Online, and social media platforms have turned these once-private fantasies into a celebrated subculture, with fans sharing their admiration and appreciation for their favourite fictional men.

Women tend to gravitate towards these fictional characters because they may embody traits that they desire in a partner. For instance, many women idolize Mr Darcy from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice for his intelligence, wit, and initial aloofness. These traits make him a complex and fascinating character, leading many women to envision themselves in relationships with characters like him who are strong, romantic, and intelligent.

The rise in fan fiction has further enabled fans to elaborate on their favourite characters and craft their own narratives. Fans can now create their own stories that take their favourite characters on new journeys, tailor-make romantic scenes, or introduce plot twists to unfold their own romantic fantasies.

While there is a positive side to this trend, some people are concerned that the fans may be too invested in these characters, leading to an unhealthy detachment from the real world and making it difficult for them to form real-life connections. Furthermore, some experts argue that movies like Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey promote toxic relationships over healthy romantic bonds, which may cause harm to women's understanding of and expectations from relationships.
