Terrorism, in its simplest definition, refers to the use of violence and intimidation to achieve political or ideological goals. 🏵️🏵️🏵️
This definition is widely accepted by international organizations such as the United Nations and governments around the world.
The term "terrorism" has become a contentious issue in recent years, particularly in the context of conflicts involving Muslim-majority countries.
The label "terrorist" is often applied selectively, with Western governments accusing Muslim groups of terrorism while overlooking or downplaying similar actions by their own allies.
From an Islamic perspective, terrorism is condemned as a violation of fundamental human rights and values.
The Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasize the importance of protecting innocent life and upholding justice and compassion.
In fact, Islam places a strong emphasis on the sanctity of human life, with the Prophet himself stating that "whoever kills a soul, it is as if he has killed all of humanity; and whoever saves a life, it is as if he has saved all of humanity."
Regarding the actions of Western powers, there have been numerous instances of aggression and violence against Muslim-majority countries that have been labeled as "terrorism" by those same powers.
🏵️🏵️🏵️
For example, Israel's genocides against Palestinians and the US-led invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq resulted in thousands of civilian deaths and widespread destruction, yet these actions were not labeled as terrorism by Western governments.
Moreover, Western powers have been accused of supporting authoritarian regimes and oppressive governments in Muslim-majority countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Egypt, while labeling more democratic and progressive movements as "terrorist." This has led to accusations of hypocrisy and double standards in Western foreign policy.
In the Holy Quran, Allah (SWT) has emphasized the importance of protecting innocent life and upholding justice and compassion.
In Surah Al-Ma'idah, verse 32, Allah (SWT) says: "Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely."
In another verse from Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 177, Allah (SWT) states: "O you who have believed, preserve yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded."
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also emphasized the importance of protecting innocent life and upholding justice.
In a hadith narrated by Abu Huraira (RA), the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Whoever kills a person having a treaty with the Muslims shall not smell the fragrance of Paradise though its fragrance can be smelt at a distance of forty years (of traveling)."
In another hadith narrated by Anas bin Malik (RA), the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Whoever introduces some good practice in Islam that is followed after him will be granted a reward equal to that of the followers without it reducing their reward in any way; and whoever introduces some evil practice in Islam that is followed after him will be burdened with the burden of that as well as that of its followers without it reducing their burden; and they will be thrown into Hell."
On the other hand, some biased non-Muslims understand the word (Jihad) in Islam what does it mean and mix it with their biased narratives of the Western-invented word (terrorism) 🏵️🏵️🏵️
Jihad is an Arabic word that literally translates to "struggle" or "effort."
In Islam, Jihad refers to a broad concept that encompasses both inner and outer struggles.
The inner struggle, known as "jihad al-nafs," refers to the individual's effort to control their own desires and impulses, and to strive towards spiritual purity and self-improvement.
This type of jihad is emphasized in the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The outer struggle, known as "jihad al-asghar" or "jihad al-nafs," refers to the collective effort of Muslims to defend themselves, their communities, and their faith against external threats.
This type of jihad is also emphasized in Islamic teachings, but it is subject to strict guidelines and conditions.
According to Islamic law, jihad is (ONLY🏵️) permissible in self-defense against aggression or oppression.
Muslims are encouraged to exhaust all peaceful means of resolving conflicts before resorting to force. In addition, the use of violence must be limited to those directly involved in the conflict, and innocent civilians must be protected.
In the end, Jihad in Islam is a multifaceted concept that encompasses both inner and outer struggles. While the outer struggle is subject to strict guidelines and conditions, it is only permissible in self-defense against aggression or oppression.
The inner struggle, on the other hand, is a lifelong process of spiritual purification and self-improvement.
