Sister Aisha, Islam considers sexual intimacy as an act of worship towards Allah and a way to fulfill the natural human desire for procreation. Therefore, within Islam, sexual relations are only permissible within the confines of a heterosexual marriage.
Islamic teachings regarding homosexuality are based on the belief that it violates the natural order ordained by Allah, which is to mate male and female to propagate the human race. Homosexual acts are seen as a deviation from this order, and humans should practice self-control to avoid them. This reasoning is derived from various Quranic passages and Hadiths that condemn homosexual practices, such as the story of the people of Lut (Prophet Lot), which is mentioned in multiple Quranic surahs, as well as the hadith from the Prophet Mohammad about the punishment for homosexuality.
In the Quran Allah (SWT) says:
"And (We sent) Lot when he said to his people: What! do you commit an indecency which any one in the world has not done before you? Most surely you come to males in lust besides females; nay you are an extravagant people." (Quran 7:80-81)
"And We also (sent) Lut: He said to his people: “Do you commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you? For you practice your lusts on men in preference to women: You are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds.” (Quran 27:54-55)
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, cursed the effeminate men and masculine women: "Allah has cursed those men who imitate women and those women who imitated men." (Sahih Al Bukhari, Book 72, Hadith 774)
Islam sees homosexuality as a sin, just like any other sin, and Muslims are encouraged to avoid it and seek repentance if they have committed it.
The emphasis in Islamic teachings is on compassion and kindness towards all human beings, regardless of their sexual orientation, while reminding them that their desires must be aligned with Allah's will.
