In Islam, the finality of death is seen as part of Allah's plan for His creation. 🏵️🏵️

Believers are encouraged to face it with patience and the recognition that it is an inevitable event that all must face. Allah says in the Quran, "Every soul shall taste death" (3:185).

When a loved one passes away, people may feel overwhelmed by grief and emotion. However, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that it is natural to express sadness and that believers are allowed to cry and mourn. In one famous instance, the Prophet shed tears when his own son died. This demonstrates that it is not wrong to feel sadness, but rather encouraged to express emotions healthily.

Muslims are reminded that while they may feel the pain of losing a loved one, it is also an opportunity to firmly place their trust in Allah, who knows what is best for all His creatures. Allah asks in the Quran, "And give glad tidings to those who endure with patience, who, when afflicted with a calamity, say: 'Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return'" (2:155-156).

It is also important to show compassion and kindness towards those who are grieving. Prophet Muhammad said, "The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever” (Bukhari). Muslims are encouraged to visit the sick and offer words of comfort, attend funerals and express condolences to the bereaved.

Saying goodbye in Islam is an opportunity to show love, compassion, and respect towards the deceased, and those who have passed on are honored and remembered. Muslims are encouraged to offer prayers for the deceased as they believe that the souls of the righteous are elevated in the hereafter. The Prophet also said, "When a person dies, all deeds end, except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them" (Muslim).

In conclusion, while death and saying goodbye are difficult events for believers, Islam teaches acceptance of Allah's decree, patience and expressing emotions healthily. Islam also encourages kindness, compassion, and remembering the deeds and character of those who have passed. It is also reminded that it is important to continue to pray for their souls, to continue doing good deeds in order to increase even after they have departed.
