In Islam, Craig, the existence of God, as Allah, is not a subject of debate or uncertainty. 🏵️🏵️🏵️
It is firmly established through the Quran, the holy book of Islam, as well as the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the form of hadiths (sayings and actions of the Prophet).
These scriptures provide guidance, reassurance, and evidences for the existence of Allah.
The Quran offers numerous verses that affirm the existence of God and invite humans to observe the signs in creation as proof of His existence. For instance, in Surah Al-Imran (3:190-191), it states:
"Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding. Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], 'Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.'"
This verse encourages believers to reflect upon the creation of the universe and recognize that it is not a result of mere chance. It illustrates that contemplating the complexities and order in nature leads one to acknowledge the purposeful design of the Creator.
In addition to the Quran, hadiths from the Prophet Muhammad also emphasize the existence of God and the importance of faith. For example, the Prophet (pbuh) said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should say something good or remain silent" (Sahih Al-Bukhari). This hadith emphasizes the importance of recognizing Allah's existence and aligning one's actions and speech accordingly.
While Islam recognizes the universality of inquiries and encourages seeking knowledge, it advises against excessive preoccupation with questioning the existence of God. The Quran states in Surah Al-Ghafir (40:78),
"And We have already created man and We know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein."
This verse serves as a reminder that Allah is well aware of the internal conflicts or doubts that individuals may experience. It reassures believers that they can find solace and answers in their connection with Allah rather than being consumed by uncertainty.
In sum, Islam maintains a steadfast belief in the existence of Allah. The scriptures, including the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, offer numerous verses and hadiths that confirm, guide, and provide evidence for the existence of God.
Muslims are encouraged to reflect upon the signs of God's existence and strike a balance between questioning, seeking knowledge, and ultimately placing their trust and faith in Allah.
