Here are some thoughts from Islam perspective 🏵️🏵️👇

In Islam, quitting a job can be permissible, even recommended, depending on the individual's circumstances. Here are some examples of why:

1. Protection of one's mental and physical health: Islam gives a huge emphasis on the preservation and protection of one's physical and mental health. God (Allah) says in the Quran: “And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful.” (4:29). Therefore, if a job is causing undue stress, anxiety, or physical harm, it can be justified to quit.

2. Upholding religious obligations: Islam instructs Muslims to perform their daily prayers, maintain family ties, and fulfill other religious obligations as a top priority. If a job is hampering a person's ability to fulfill these obligations, then it may become necessary to quit. God (Allah) says in the Quran: “O you who have believed, bow and prostrate and worship your Lord and do good – that you may succeed.” (22:77).

3. Avoiding unethical or prohibited work: Islam is a religion of peace, fairness, and justice. Oppression, injustice, and exploitation are strictly prohibited in Islam. Thus, if a job involves engaging in any unethical or prohibited practice, then quitting becomes an obligation, even if it affects a person's financial benefits. Allah says in the Quran, “O you who have believed, do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly but only [in lawful] business by mutual consent.” (4:29)

4. Pursuing better opportunities: In Islam, Allah encourages believers to strive for excellence in all aspects of life. If a person feels that they have reached their maximum potential in a job and there are better opportunities to progress and serve in a better position, leaving the existing job to pursue such opportunities is permissible. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “If one of you works for someone, he must work diligently for him."

5. Trust in Allah's plan: Muslims trust in Allah's plan for their lives, and they seek His guidance in every decision. Striving to work hard is commendable, but ultimately, it's Allah who controls all aspects of our lives. He will open up new opportunities for a person if they are sincere in their efforts. Allah says in the Quran, “And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him.” (65:2-3)

As Muslims, we believe in the oneness of God (Allah), who provides for us and sustains us. In the Quran, Allah says, "And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision." (11:6). This verse reminds us of our reliance on Allah and His control over our lives. Ultimately, making the decision to quit a job should be based on a person's circumstances, efforts, and trust in Allah.
