🏵️🏵️🏵️ In the context of human life, Mary, nostalgia and reminiscing about the past, particularly the formative years, are natural phenomena.
The Quran highlights the significance of reflection and learning from past experiences, as mentioned in Surah Al-Qalam (68:2): "Indeed, it is [recorded] in the Scriptures of the earlier peoples, the Scriptures of Ibrahim (Abraham) and Musa (Moses) and 'Isa (Jesus) and the Prophets from their people."
As individuals age, they may feel a stronger connection to their past, realizing the limited time they have ahead. This nostalgia can serve as a means to reconnect with old friends, reminisce about shared memories, and seek comfort in familiarity. Allah says in Surah Al-Anfal (8:26-27): "It is He Who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the Believers, so that they may grow in faith along with their [present and future] possessions. And to Allah belong the soldiers of the heavens and the earth, and ever is Allah Knowing and Forgiving."
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of following the ways of those who came before us, as some were guided, some were misguided, and some were mixed. He said, "You will continue to follow the ways of those who came before you." In times of hardship or loss, reaching out to old acquaintances can provide comfort and understanding, as they may already be familiar with the individual's past experiences and character.
This is illustrated in the story of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) seeking solace in the company of Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) after the death of his wife, Lady Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her).
While nostalgia and reminiscing about the past are natural aspects of human life, it is essential to maintain a balance between nostalgia and focusing on personal growth, new connections, and the present and future.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "The best of your fate is the one that has befallen you, and the worst of your fate is the one that you yourselves have brought upon yourselves." By following the guidance provided by the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), individuals can strike a balance between cherishing their past and embracing the present and future.🏵️🏵️🏵️
