In Islam, Jerry, the concept of self-reflection and personal growth aligns with the idea of being a lamp unto oneself. Muslims are encouraged to seek knowledge and strive for self-improvement. The Quran emphasizes the importance of understanding one's own actions and intentions, as well as the consequences of those actions.

The Quran states in Surah Al-Maidah, verse 105: "O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient." This verse encourages Muslims to rely on their own spiritual connection with Allah through patience and prayer, highlighting the importance of inner strength and self-reliance.

In terms of imitation versus integration, Islam encourages Muslims to follow the example of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a model for conduct, known as the Sunnah. However, this is not a strict imitation but rather a guidance to understand and apply the teachings of Islam in one's own life.

The Quran states in Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 21: "You have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and who engages much in the praise of Allah." This verse suggests that Muslims should follow the example of the Prophet, but it also emphasizes the importance of having a personal relationship with Allah and striving for one's own spiritual growth.

In Islam, projection and judgment are discouraged, as they can hinder personal growth and understanding. Muslims are encouraged to be mindful of their own actions and intentions, as well as the actions and intentions of others. The Quran emphasizes the importance of forgiveness and compassion, as well as the need for self-reflection and self-improvement.

In conclusion, while there are similarities between the Buddhist concept of being a lamp unto oneself and the Islamic approach to self-reflection and personal growth, the emphasis on following the example of Prophet Muhammad in Islam is a key difference. However, both religions encourage individuals to seek their own truth, understand their conditioning, and strive for integration and self-improvement.
