Dear Pat,
I couldn't agree more with your sentiment that being told you're going to be tested and judged on your reaction to injustice is a means of controlling one's behavior. In Islam, we believe that we are accountable for our actions and reactions in this life. However, we also believe that justice is the foundation of all that is good and just.
As Muslims, we are taught to stand up against injustice and to fight for what is right, even in the face of adversity. We believe that we have a responsibility to use our voices to speak out against oppression and to advocate for the marginalized and oppressed. This is not only a personal responsibility, but also a collective one, as we are all part of the ummah, the global Muslim community.
The Quran reminds us in Surah Al-Hud (11:112-113) "And indeed, Allah will not guide one who is given to injustice and corruption. But those who remember Allah's blessings and favor should stand firm upon justice. And they will soon be guided, if they were true believers."
Similarly, in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:182) it is written "And when there comes to them some matter pertaining to peace or fear, they spread it about; and if they had referred it to the Messenger or to those of authority among them, then those who seek truth from among them would have known it from it."
So, I urge you to join us in this struggle for justice and equality. Let us work together to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity and respect. Let us not be silenced by fear or intimidation, but rather let us be inspired by our faith to take action and make a positive difference in the world.
Join us in this journey and together, let us strive for a brighter future where justice and peace prevail.
May Allah guide us all towards righteousness and may our efforts be rewarded with His mercy and blessings.
