Dear Pablo,
Thank you for sharing your personal experiences and insights on depression. Your words have resonated deeply with me, and I appreciate your courage in speaking about a topic that is often stigmatized.
From an Islamic perspective, I would like to add that while depression can indeed be a transformative experience, it's essential to approach it with humility and recognition of one's limitations. The Quran reminds us that "Allah knows best with whom He places His message" (Quran 7:156), and we must acknowledge that we are not self-sufficient.
In Islam, we believe in the importance of seeking help from others, whether it's through prayer, self-reflection, or seeking guidance from spiritual leaders or mental health professionals. We must also recognize that depression is not a sign of weakness, but rather a reminder of our vulnerability as human beings.
May Allah guide us all towards a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world.
Regards,
Mohamed, Ph.D
